This doesn't look interesting to me, honestly. Way too similar to previous two games. At least Planet Robobot had some cool new gameplay mechanics using mech suit, but this has only new powers that are basically ' hit enemy with different animation'. I kinda bored with playing same old thing over and over again. I wish Nintendo allow series to evolve similar to Mario or Rayman, I don't understand what good would it do to keep it exact same over the years.I think we deserve an 'Odyssey' of Kirby series. Kirby itself deserves too. In Japan at least, they have those 'Nya nya nya!
Neko Mario Time' segments that kind of take the same role as directs. (Nintendo publishing new informations directly in a digestible format.)For example the last one presented some new friend abilities and the concept of mixed abilities puzzles. The problem is that the english version of the Cat Mario Show doesn't advance at the same rythm at all and doesn't even contain new infos due to it being a completely separate endeavor just using the same brand (they don't get new footage nor exclusive infos, so they don't cover the same role as directs).I think their episode last week was still about Miitopia? Or is that only on the UK channel?Edit: I guess my point is that if you stick to english-only sources, a lot of this stuff is still unnannounced. So it could appear in a localised direct segment. I want to be excited about this game but I simply can't; the formula is so at a standstill after three entries and I feel that I've played this game already.
And everything looks like a step down from Robobot in every possible aspect. Being accompanied by 3 NPCs in order to access secret areas and being able to use specific powers is totally a letdown and doesn't seem to add anything special like the robobot armor did. The abilities combos don't look nearly as imaginative as in Dreamland 2 / 3 / Kirby 64 and the 30 fps are terribly dissapointing. This doesn't look interesting to me, honestly. Kirby itself deserves too. It seems to be linked to the Clean Ability, I think we also saw it summoning Chu as well. Seems to be a reference to how Clean was exclusive to the Dark Matter games as were the Animal Buddies.Speaking of which we also see a shout-out to Adele with the painter Ability, those boar enemies were previously exclusive to the Dark Matter games, and we see what appears to be Pon and Con from Dream Land 3.I'm fucking HYPED they're paying homage to that series after basically pretending a lot of it didn't exist for years perhaps due to the 'disappearance' of the director Shinichi Shimomura.I still think he's just Sakurai's alter-ego or something. I'm not going through fatigue per se I just don't think it looks like a $60 game.
I would be in for $30 though I think, just for the cuteness of everything. This feels like a WiiU release where Nintendo slaps a $60 price on something just to say 'look we released a big first party game this month'. They did this a lot in the WiiU days and it always bugged me, because the underlying message was that this game was just as worthy of your time, money, and attention as say Smash, Splatoon, or Zelda, when clearly that is far from true. You will probably be able to beat the whole thing in 5 hours, maybe even less if past Kirby games are anything to go. My Zelda clock is over 150 hours, Splatoon 2 over 90 hours. There are some cool 4 player party elements but thats going to be good for maybe an hour before you go back to Mario Kart or Smash or something richer. I just wish Nintendo would own up that Kirby (and Yoshi) are lesser franchises made by far less talented internal developers than their A teams and give us a truthful price to go along with it.

A bit of a downer to see so many people disappointed with this game before it's even out. I get that the structure is very similar to other recent Kirby games and I'd also love to see a full-on 3D Kirby title, but the mainline Kirby games have been consistently great for roughly a decade now so I see no reason to not look forward to it. I don't get how anyone could complain about Kirby being stale yet still be excited for Pokemon, Mario Kart, various sports games, etc. A lot of franchises like to play it relatively safe and that's ok as long as the structure is sound.
