Mafia 3 Signs Of The Times
Sign of the Times is the final story DLC for Mafia 3, and introduces Batman style investigations, more weapons, cars, outfits and the option to fix up Sammy bar. Like the other DLC it become available after recruiting the 3 underbosses, but unlike the others might be best waiting until later to really focus on as its final parts require a hefty bank balance to finish up.The story has you focusing your attention on a cult that is preying on the weak and unwanted, and is just as dark if not darker than the other DLC. While the ever-constant racism is still prominent, it is also tackled from a different angle, focusing on the ramifications felt by surviving generations and how they can be manipulated and abused by those who want to push twisted agendas.
It also looks at dealing with grief, and how people cope with it. As with the previous DLC the main story components are short, with the meat of the DLC only adding about 3-4 hour’s worth of content.New gameplay elements include investigations, and much like the investigations undertaken in Batman Arkham games you have to find the clues from scattered objects, and use a black light to find hidden signs that are scattered around and put the pieces together. There are also the weird toxic gas moments (again much like Batman) where your vision warps and shifts, hiding enemies from your normal methods of detection and making them much more demonic and dangerous.
Both these are poor imitations, but are at least different enough from the standard killing and fetch missions that they add something new to the game. One of the new weapons included is a reskin of an existing assault rifle with less recoil, while the knives are great silent grenade type weapons, and reusable. The new vehicle the Samson Harrier is a beast, and while it’s not the best for combat it or navigating turns at high speed it’s a monster when driving on straight roads. The other vehicle is a modified hearse, and I couldn’t recommend picking it over the Harrier.
The new clothing options don’t hold a candle compared to some of the others, so I didn’t use them.Fixing up Sammy’s Bar is the included end game content, and costs a fortune (close to 200K). The missions that come with it are race and a standard kill everyone mission, both which are easy to do. For your effort, you end up with another area to spawn from, receive free medical supplies and a tac vest.If you are chasing 100% achievements then this DLC is required, however all of them are easy to achieve. For more reviews please visit.
